I will provide each child with an Amazon Kindle Color Soft Signature edition. The Kindle will have 32GB of storage which will support not only ebooks, but audio books as well. The battery will last up to 8 weeks which is sufficient to allow them to read, and plug in when the battery is low. This Kindle will support wireless charging which will be a benefit for the child if they are running low on USB-C cables. Hopefully, the school will support the school’s text books. If so, this is one less thing to worry about. The child will be encouraged to read, and the Color Soft will allow for reading in immersive books and even graphic novels. The child will receive their own Amazon account which will allow them to use their debit card for purchasing of books.
When the child leaves my custody, they will be able to take the Kindle with them. Since the Amazon account is tied to them, they will not be using my card to pay for books. They will be responsible for their own continued reading, and hopefully the guardian will push to encourage the child to enjoy reading – no matter the age.
