Any child 8 years or older will be provided with a Real ID photo ID card. For this to work, I will need a birth certificate, and their social security card. I will hand both over to the case worker once I established a Real ID card. The card will allow the child to go to an airport if they need to go somewhere, and will allow them to enter a federal building – again if they need to. The photo ID will also be ideal if they are lost, and the police has to take them home.
When the child is no longer in my custody, the case worker or next guardian must make the necessary arrangements to change the address on the photo ID card, and replace the card for the child’s needs. It would be recommended to keep the photo ID card for a number of reasons.
