In each child’s bedroom will have a corner desk. On the desk, there will be a Thunderbolt4 dock. This dock will have a 2.5GBPS LAN? port, 3 USB-A ports, a Disply Port, and 2 HDMI ports. There will also be a port for powering the dock. On the front, there will be 3 USB-C ports, audio jack, volume control, and an SD card reader. The child will just have to plug in the notebook into the dock. There is no monitor, so the computer should remain open rather than trying to use a video port. By offering the USB-C ports, and SD Card reader, it will allow the child to have access to the resources they will need. They will be able to copy or move files from the SD card to the computer.
When the child leaves my custody, the dock will remain in the bedroom. If the foster child has any SD cards, or other hardware they purchased, it will go with them, but the dock will still remain in the bedroom. This will allow the foster child to have a near desktop experience without the need for a desktop. Since everything in their computer, they won’t need to worry about external devices unless they purchased them. Keep in mind, that backing up the computer will be done through the NAS? that is assigned to the foster child which will go with them. The dock however will remain with me.
