I feel that the internet should be a significant part of everyone’s life. I will encourage the child to acquire a Gmail account which will be used for the domain registry, and hosting services. They will choose a registrar, and create a unique account. This account will then use the child’s debit card to pay for the registry fee. The child will then acquire their own hosting plan with a hosting company. They will then use their debit card to pay for the hosting package.
A recommendation is to use a company called Host Gator. Their cheapest price is $135 for 3 years, and then $11/month afterwards. This plan will give the child a 10GB account to where they will be best to FTP a WordPress platform into their domain. They will not have as extensive of a platform as I do, but it will give them something affordable to rely on. Considering they only have 10GB, I will recommend that they make their domain email address to forward to Gmail, and then use the email client from their computer to log into their Gmail account, and show their domain email address as the sender. I will help them with all of that.
When the child leaves my custody, they will take their domain, and hosting package with them. As long as they have a computer, they will be able to add pages, and edit their blog. This will make them less reliant on social networks which studies have proven that it is addictive to children. I wouldn’t want the child to get addicted to social networking as it can be a bad influence on them.
